DISABILITY IN MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION |
|||
Disability in Myocardial Infarction is due to:
Reinfarction Heart Failure Arrhythmias Sudden Death Psychological distress is a well-recognized comorbidity of a myocardial infarction and may initiate a vicious cycle for the patient, delaying or complicating recovery. Clinical depression is well recognized after an AMI. Numerous studies have shown a direct negative correlation between the severity of the Ml and return to work. Increased hospital stay after myocardial infarction has subsequently been correlated with decreased return-to-work rates. A direct intervention by cardiac rehabilitation programs has been shown in some studies to increase the percentage of patients returning to work and remaining at work long-term. |
