DISABILITY AFTER CONCUSSION |
|||
Thousands of Americans suffer a minor head injury, later diagnosed as post-concussive syndrome. Some have had a short period of unconsciousness; most have little or no recall of the events of, and more likely, the events immediately after the incident. For most post-concussive syndrome patients, it does take days or weeks for the symptoms to become fully evident. For the majority of patients who demonstrate post-concussive syndrome, the symptoms and complaints will ease and, over time, resolve themselves. However, if there is a history of previous mild head injuries, the symptoms are less likely to resolve on their own. Treatment Medication which may not change the condition: Many clients with persistent post-concussive syndrome find that the symptoms are treated by various medications, but the condition remains at the core unchanged. |
